Samsung: The Curved Experiment
Samsung asked us to help launch the world’s first curved UHD TV. But how do you demonstrate new technology using old technology?
We built a cross-screen immersive experiment that allowed users to explore all corners of a gladiator match in a rounded Coliseum.

Enter the Coliseum into the arena where gladiators are fighting. A prompt lets you know you can unlock hidden actions by exploring your surroundings.
Use your phone to pan the Coliseum and extend the screen in a 180 degree curve. We used the device orientation API, accelerometer data and compass data to translate the movements of the phone into a way of looking beyond the screen.
The whole scene, with all its animations and graphics, was laid out as an arch using CSS 3D and WebGl — giving the right perspective for the viewer and creating a curved feeling.
